GOP Fascists Are Not Victims

The version of California redistricting not heard on local corporate news organization broadcasts

Which state [among several others] voted for more Democrats than Republicans overall yet lost U.S. House elections?

One of the most prominent examples of a state that voted for Democrats overall but lost the U.S. House election in 2024 is

North Carolina

Here’s why:

  • Competitive Electorate: North Carolina is known for its closely divided electorate, regularly ranking among the most electorally competitive states in the nation.
  • Gerrymandering: Despite the even split in voting, the Republican-controlled legislature implemented a new congressional map in 2023. This redistricting shifted the state’s representation in the U.S. House of Representatives from an even 7-7 split to a 10-4 Republican advantage in the 2024 elections.

The Texas Republican-controlled legislature wants to do the same a year out from the 2026 mid-term election.

California has had an apolitical commission formed to fairly draw new district lines based on data from the U.S. census conducted every 10 years since 2010, whereas most Republican-leaning states allow their legislatures to draw congressional lines based on census data.

This leaves California with one option – draw new congressional district lines to make this a fair fight.

No more hoping they won’t cheat, ’cause we know now that Trump Republicans put their party above the country.

So, who the hell wouldn’t fight back?

Thank you Governor Newsom. Once again you demonstrate exemplary leadership while a convicted felon and his cult try to move us into a Mafia-style authoritarian government.
